The GEOPARK Sachsens Mitte is currently home to three GEO-infopoints in its area. They are managed together with the municipalities and local associations. GEO-infopoints offer opportunities to engage with relevant topics and are also starting points for trips in the surrounding area.
Our GEO-infopoints focus on general GEOPARK topics as well as local information such as the geology of the surrounding area and tips for excursions and experiences at the respective locations.
It's not just about rocks, the GEOPARK also brings together interesting information on topics such as pilgrimages, forestry and history.
The GEO-infopoint informs visitors about the geology of the region, hiking and cycling trails, the Saxon Way of St James and the Wilsdruff narrow-gauge railway network.
The railway building from the 1920s, which has been renovated into a GEO-infopoint, informs visitors about the geology of the region, hiking and cycling trails, the Saxon Way of St James (which goes right past the former station site) and the railway history of the Wilsdruff narrow-gauge network.
The GEO Info Point is a joint project between the GEOPARK Sachsens Mitte, the municipality of Bobritzsch-Hilbersdorf and the "Heimatfreunde" Naundorf.
The GEO-infopoint Grillenburg informs visitors about the geology of the Tharandt Forest, the history of forestry teaching in Tharandt and forest management.
The GEO-infopoint is located on the first floor of the former schoolhouse in Grillenburg. Four gates in the corners of the room provide information on the GEOPARK, the geology of the Tharandt Forest, the history of forestry teaching in Tharandt and forest management. The infopoint also has many interactive play elements for children. Among other things, large cubes can be put together to form pictures, a sound memory can be solved and a whisper tube can be tried out. The bark beetle and its effects on forests also play a role.
The GEO-infopoint is a joint project between the GEOPARK Sachsens Mitte and the town of Tharandt.
The GEO-infopoint in the centre of Hetzdorf deals with the regional mining history, the nearby medieval glass melting site and the geology of the Ice Age.
The GEO-infopoint is located in the centre of Hetzdorf. Inside, visitors can find out about the regional geology and mining history. There is also plenty of illustrative material with tips for further experiences. Outside, there is a "Jump through the history of the earth" rock trail for children and a "rock sound game" to experience. You will also find a rock trail with the most common specimens from the surrounding area.
